Lyn Davies - Rotary Club of Terrigal Lyn joined the Rotary Cub of Griffith Central, NSW in 1994. Later she joined the Rotary Club of Terrigal after relocating to the Central Coast. She has held many roles in Rotary at both Club and District levels. During her career as a teacher Lyn had many experiences working in classrooms from preschool to year 12. She worked with students in the areas of Learning Difficulties, Behaviour Disorders, Hearing Impairment (including Otitis Media), and taught TAFE Signed English. She was also a Special Education Consultant and a Primary School Principal. After attending an International Rotary Conference in New Orleans Lyn decided to raise funds for a PhD scholarship in Hearing Matters through ARH. This was her DG Partner Project in the 2013-14 Rotary year. She also joined the Rotary International Hearing RAG and Better Hearing Australia Central Coast Inc. These programs have provided wonderful opportunities to travel widely and engage in a variety of activities and projects - making friends around the world. The significance and importance of our hearing ability to humans is critical. It impacts on our communication, health and wellbeing. The social and economic impact of hearing loss is happening worldwide and fits with Environment, a major concern expressed by both WHO and Rotary. |

Little Blue shed
Aug 07, 2022
My name is Tanja Curcic. I have 2 homes, Uganda and Australia. Now married to a Ugandan man called Jonathan Ogil. I live in a town called Soroti. My work extends to the Teso region.
Little Blue Shed is located in Uganda, East Africa. It is a safe hub where vulnerable women and girls learn, create and grow.
Often females in developing countries are faced with countless adversaries, the main challenge being poverty. Many are forced into early marriage, prostitution, trafficking and other dangerous activities as a way of survival. This is heartbreaking!
The major cause of this is desperation due to a lack of education, skills and employment opportunities. Little Blue Shed has identified the root cause of exploitation and we are on a mission with others to bring an end to this!
We believe that every woman is unique with God-given gifts and talents tailored especially for her. By providing a space for creating and learning we are able to discover potential possibly locked up for years!
We bring skills, education and employment opportunities and HOPE to those that need it the most. A Bit of Background
In 2015 I bought a one way ticket and had $1,000 in my bank account. I spent the next 3 years living in rural Africa as a local. Although I had fallen in love with Africa in 2007 this was the time where my love affair with Africa grew much deeper. Witnessing the daily struggles and suffering that were so bravely endured by women and girls in Uganda gave birth to another level of vision for Little Blue Shed "I was on a mission to provide a solution to empower females through education and skills and employment as possible with sustainable programs".
I now live in Uganda with visits to Australia to visit family and for project purposes.
